Community blood drive - is scheduled Dec. 17 from 3 to 8 p.m. at Helper Junior High School.
Golden Rule Mission - Volunteers will participate in holiday bell-ringing campaign at various businesses throughout the area. Donations will not only support the homeless, but serve as a contribution for the installation of a security system and a new telephone system at the mission in Helper.
Christmas for youth in foster care - The division of child and family services in Price is accepting new toy and monetary donations to provide a Christmas party for youth in foster care during the holiday season. For donation information, contact the office at 636-2360.
Rape crisis hotline - Rape or domestic violence victims in the Carbon-Emery County area may contact the local 24-hour crisis line toll-free at 1-866-894-8610.
Grazing workshop - The informative session for ranchers is slated Dec. 13 at Red Cliffs Lodge near Moab. An optional follow-up discussion is scheduled Dec. 18 from 8 a.m. until noon. Flu vaccinations - Clinic hours at the health district in Price are Monday through Friday from 3 to 4:30 p.m. and Thursday from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Food handlers classes - Two-hour sessions are scheduled at the public health department in Price on Dec. 12 at 9 a.m., 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Classes will be taught at the health district in Castle Dale on Nov. 21 at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Test fees required. HEAT program - Applicants for the federally funded energy assistance program must have identification, Social Security cards for all household members 18 years of age or older, copies of utility bills and proof of preceding month's income for all employed people in the home. Active Re-Entry drivers - The center needs volunteer drivers to transport people with disabilities to appointments, school and work on an as needed basis. Volunteer drivers are reimbursed for mileage. Contact Active Re-Entry at 637-4950.

Parenting for teens - The Family Support and Children's Justice Center in Price offers a free class dealing with the issues, problems and difficulties facing teen parents. Participants learn about available resources, assistance to help youth return/remain in school, parenting/life skills, cooking and recreation opportunities. Cans for Care-A-Van - The service is conducting an aluminum can drive to help defray the costs of providing transportation to medical appointments for the elderly and people with disabilities. Bagged cans may be dropped off at Howa's. For pickup, call the office at 637-9488.
Carbon County Humane Society - The non-profit organization offers monthly spay and neuter clinics at 98 North Carbon Avenue in Price. The group needs old towels and blankets. Members will pick up good used items for the group's rummage sale. For information, call the humane society at 637-2908.

Family Support & Children's Justice Center - offers crisis care for families with children from infants to 11 years old. Crisis nursery is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Families may use the nursery for respite, family crisis, court, doctors appointments, medical emergencies, mental health appointments, escaping family violence, attending parenting classes/divorce classes and AA/Narcotic Anonymous meetings.
