Price Metal gets county OK for vehicle crusher

On the recommendation of county planners, the Carbon County Commission has approved a conditional use permit to allow Price Metal to operate a vehicle crushing operation at the county industrial park.

The permit was granted Wednesday on condition that the company, owned by Dave Swenson, will comply with all state, county and federal laws. That means assuring that all fluids are properly drained from vehicles, that there will be no auto salvage conducted at the site, and there will be no long-term storage of crushed vehicles.

Commissioners noted that some storage would be necessary because it will probably be necessary for inventory to build up to the point where it is feasible to ship away in bulk.
