Radio antenna sprout from the ground and from the tops of mobile command post vehicles at the County Fairgrounds during Tuesday's emergency communications drill. The exercise involved law enforcement and public safety agencies from seven eastern Utah counties, dispatchers, and ham radio operators. The scenario involved a plane crash somewhere in the Book Cliffs area, and the objective was to see how well the agencies could establish and coordinate communications links all the way from Daggett County to San Juan County. The conclusion: pretty well, but there's room for improvement.
