Panthers push win streak to three games
After running into the wall against Monticello, Pinnacle got right back into the swing of things with three wins last week. They started off with a non region 64-59 victory over Tinic. They followed that up with back to back wins over Navajo Mountain and Monument Valley to secure fourth place in their region. Friday night the Panthers pounded the Jaguars 77-54. Then they finished up their week with a 54-45 win over the Monument Valley Cougars.
On Wednesday the Panthers took on the Tinic Miners. Four three quarters both teams scored exactly the same amount of points. But in the second quarter PCA out scored the Miners 14-8 and that ended up the difference in the game.
Demetri Hullings scored 21. Jake Hardy added 16 and Jullinn Garcia finished with 16 to lead the Panthers to a win.
Returning home and to region action, PCA hit Navajo Mountain with a 32-7 first quarter and left them reeling. They cruised to an easy win with Barry Hamilton and Hardy putting up 17 each. Hardy hit five threes as part of his scoring effort.
Monument Valley proved to be a tougher opponent. The game stayed close most of the game. Finally in the third quarter the Panthers opened up a lead that gave them some breathing room and they finished off their week on a high note.
Hullings was on fire with 28 points including six trey's. Hardy continued to stay hot with 14.
"These were much needed wins," said Coach Devin Shakespear. "For a while against Monument Valley we just quit moving and were missing shots, but we got it back in the third and finished strong."
The team will play against Tinic on Wednesday and then head to Monument Valley on Friday.
