Castleview Hospital held its annual Cardiac Day on Feb. 8. Eva Tseng, Castleview Hospital Dietitian, above, is explaining the differences of trans fats, saturated fats, how they can raise LDL levels (bad cholesterol) and lower HDL levels (good cholesterol), and how this can increase risk for heart disease. An informative discussion also included salt in diets, how to cook smart, shop smart, and eat out smart. Other special cardiac lectures included in the day was information by David Nichols M.D., Brian Powell D.P.T., and Wayne Woodward R.P.S.G.T. All in attendance received a certificate for a free cholesterol lipid panel test, free blood glucose scan, and names were put into a drawing for a blood pressure cuff, a monthly membership to Physical Therapy and a fruit basket.
