Carbon High divers hit it big at region competition
Even though there are only two divers on the team and they are only freshmen at that, the Carbon High Diving team made a big splash at the region meet this weekend.
Caden Sherman ended up in second place and Kellen Trujillo grabbed third. Sherman hit all of his dives well except for the final one, which was a new one he had just added. His failing that dive probably cost him first place in the region meet. Trujillo also completed all of his dives well, except for one in which he was docked a couple of points for coming too close to the board.
There is a little confusion about wether the two placed first or second as a team. Coach Stew Foster had to leave in the middle of the meet due to a medical emergency, but is doing fine now. He heard that his pair placed second, but he says they had enough points to have taken first, but is unable to get clarification of that. They did place ninth place overall in the state against all schools.
No matter, both divers qualified for the state meet that will take place at the BYU aquatic center on Saturday Feb. 12.
