The Carbon High swim team wrapped up their final before region and state competition with wins by both the girls and boys.
In the Richfield meet the top finishers for Carbon included the both the boys and girls medley relays. The girl's relay included; Aysha Black, Lizethe Pendleton, Tati Larsen, and Paula Gibson. The boy's took second and included; Lance Riche, Thory Vandyke, Dakota Powell, and Brandon Gibson.
Brittney Willson finished second in her 200 and 100 free. Black placed first in the 100 back and second in the 200 I.M. Paula Gibson captured first in the 50 free.
The boys 200 free relay consisting of Joel Garff, Zach Prettyman, Landon Barr, andÂ Austin Pullan ended up in second. Riche captured first in the 100 back. Vandyke was second in the 100 Breaststroke. The girls 400 free relay consisting of Black, Megan Barnett, Gibson, and Willson ended up swimming to an impressive first place. Finally the boy's 400 free relay consisting of Riche, Pullan, Gibson, and Powell swim to a second place.
The home meet against Delta started great with the girls relay team of Black, Pendleton, Larsen, and Gibson in first with their best swim of the season. The boys relay of Riche, VanDyke, Powell, and GibsonÂ follow suit with a first and they also had their best time of the season.
In the 200 free it was Carbon girls dominating, grabbing the first three spots. Willson took first, Barnett in second and Jill Malone in third. Riche easily took first in the 200 free. In the girls 200 I.M. Black touched first and second was Heather Bone. Dylan Jarrett grabbed second in the boys 200 I.M. Paula Gibson captured first in the 50 free with team mate Erica Mantz in third. Powell finished second in the boy's 50 free just getting out in a very close race, Gibson follows in third.
Larsen won the 100 fly, Powell was in second for the 100 fly for the boys. In the girl's 100 free was easily won by BrittneyÂ Willson. Joel Garff was in first for the boys 100 free. In the second set of relays Carbon on top with both boys and girls finishing first.
For the girls 100 back,Â Black swam to a win by more than 17 seconds in front of her next competitor. VanDyke won the the 100 Breaststroke. In the last relay event of the night Carbon takes first in both girls and boys.
Davis mentioned the hard work everyone put into this season and the improvement of everyone on the team. The state swimming meet is Feb. 4 & 5.
