Park City has the 3A leading scorer on their team. Carbon was ready for her. The Lady Dinos got the win as they shut down the Miner offense and beat them handily 70-34 last Tuesday night.

One of the things Coach Cami Carlson has prepared her team for this season is playing against teams that have one dominant scorer. Park City is definitely one of those teams as they have the 3A leading scorer on their team. Carbon had implemented a new defense for just those kind of teams and used it very effectually against Park City, limiting their high scorer to only seven point.

The game was very physical from the beginning, but Carbon edged out the Miners by five in the first quarter as it ended 17-12. After that Park City could not find a way to score effectively and the Dinos began running away with the game. At the half they were up 31-17. By the end of the third they had widened the lead to 55-26 and the rest was history.

Tia Pappas was able to rack up 19 points, six rebounds and six steals. Kylee Lessar was all over the boards with 11. Sara Potts added 12 points and Miranda Averett contributed 10.

Coach Carslon said that Park City came out much more physical than she expected. "They acted like they had something to prove and when we shut down their top scorer they were frustrated. We rotated Tia (Pappas), Mariah (Pollock) and Miranda (Averett) on her all night and they held her to only seven points. It was an intense game, but our girls played our game plan and our new defense is working out just like we planned," she said.

Wasatch will roll into town tonight night to take on the Lady Dinos. Currently Carbon sits atop region 10 at 3-0. Wasatch is in third at 2-1, losing Tuesday night to Union. Union is in second at 3-1. Tip off is at 7 p.m. right after the boys take on the Wasps at 5:15 p.m.
