Wellington Fire Department Captain Matt Perea (left) accepts the 2010 Outstanding Fire Fighter of the Year Award from Chief John Powell. Perea was honored at last Wednesday's city council meeting. During the past year, he responded to 191 of 237 calls for emergency, training and community service for the department. Mayor Ben Blackburn commended Perea for professionalism, noting that, "Your example is what keeps people coming in to volunteer."
