Lots of appointments await new commission in January

The county commission on Tuesday tabled one more list of board appointees for the same reason several other appointments were postponed at the last session.

The commission will have a new makeup with the seating of Jae Potter after the first of the new year, and the commissioners were reluctant to name members to a board that will advise one of the departments Potter will oversee.

The board appointments tabled at the most recent meeting involve advisors for a proposed fire tunnel at the Fairgrounds.

The tunnel would be designed to provide realistic underground training for mine rescue teams.

Cost estimates for the facility have been escalating, so the commission decided to get some outside views on the necessity of it.
