Carbon swimmers ride wave of victories to win over Spartans
On Monday Dec. 20,the Carbon high school swim team hosted a meet with Emery. Both the boys and girls Dino squads were in great form as they overwhelmed the young Emery squad. The Carbon girls finished106-45. The final for the Carbon boys was 114-50.
Some of Carbon's top finishers were the girls 200 Medley relay taking first. The team consisted of Brittney Willson, Lizethe Pendleton, Aysha Black, and Paula Gibson. The boy's 200 medley relay also took first. The team included Lance Riche, Zach Prettyman, Dakota Powell, and Brandon Gibson.
The 200 free girls first place finisher was Brittney Willson and in second Megan Barnett.
Carbon boys also placed first and second with Austin Pullan, and Jade Powell. In the 200 IM Aysha Black won for the girl's and Dakota Powell also touched first for the boys.
In the girls 50 free there were 13 girls swimming the event. Carbon girls took the top ten spots with Paula Gibson leading the pack in first and Tati Larsen in second. For the boys 50 free it was Lance Riche taking the win.
Tati Larsen ended in first and Aysha Black in second for the girl's 100 butterfly. In the boy's 100 fly it was Zack Prettyman taking the event and Thory Vandyke in second.
The girls 100 free had Brittney Willson way out in front and Megan Barnett in second. In the 500 free Ashley Noyes won. And in the girls 200 free relay it was Carbon dominating in first and second first place. The top team consisted of Black, Gibson, Barnett, and Willson. The second place team consisting of Sierra Williams, Kim Callaway, Sam Jones, and Jill Fincher.
The boys also finished first and second. Austin Pullan, Joel Garff, Jade Powell, and Vaughn Garff took top honors. Dylan Jarrett, Landon Barr, Jake Allred and Brett Cook came in second.
The 100 Back had Erica Mantz in first. The boys race was a very close one with Lance Riche coming out on top. Both girls and boys 400 free relay finish in first. Teams consisted of Jones, Fincher, Mantz, and Barnett for the girl's and for the boys Riche, Garff, Pullan, and Powell.
