Price police have arrested five juvenile suspects in connection with a wave of vandalism that hit cars and buildings in the city two weeks ago.

Sgt. Bill Barnes said Monday that the arrests resulted from investigations by Detective David Wilkinson and School Resource Officer Robb Radley. "They have taken ownership of the case from the beginning," Barnes stated.

The sergeant said the suspects are all 15-year-old boys. One is being held in the juvenile detention center and the other four have been released in the custody of their parents. All five will be facing charges of vandalism and theft in juvenile court.

Barnes explained that the spree apparently began as a search for CDs and cash in vehicles. During the course of looking for items to steal, the suspects allegedly found spray paint and a cutting device.

From that point, a series of spray painting, tire slashing and car scratching incidents took place. There are 29 known victims of vandalism and theft in Price, and the sergeant advised other people who have had items stolen or had their property or vehicles damaged to contact police.

Investigators are not ruling out a possible link to similar incidents in Helper, he added.
