Before the regular season has even gotten underway, the Eastern Utah women's basketball squad has been racked with injuries and serious illnesses. This has been especially true in the post position.

The team had struggled to find a balance, but they finally scored a victory in Casper this weekend as the went 1-2 in the tournament held there.

On Nov 18, Northern Idaho beat up on them 61-77. Then they found a way to win against Colby College (Kansas) on Friday 69-52 before finally losing 61-84 to Casper on Saturday.

Coach Dave Paur was happy about the win over Colby.

"We shot 46 percent from the field and out shot them." he remarked " Priscila Santos scored 24 points, Bruna Deichmann hit 28 and Christin Figgins added 13 to lead our offense."

As for the losses it was the fact that the team is missing four post players that hurt them. Paur stated that both NIC and Casper were bigger and were able to dominate inside.

"They just pounded us" he added, "But we have a couple of players that are close, maybe 80 percent ready to get back on the court. Until then we just have to do our best and hang in there."

The team will hit the court over the Thanksgiving weekend for a pair of games in Salt Lake. They will make their first appearance in Price on Dec. 4 at 3 p.m. in the B-DAC.
