Rollover slows traffic on US-6

A semi loaded with 40,000 pounds of apples rolled Saturday afternoon on US-6 near Castle Gate, blocking the westbound lane of traffic for about four hours.

There were no injuries. The driver, a 64-year-old Texas man, was cited for improper lane travel, according to Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Levi Oman.

Oman said the semi was eastbound toward Price at about 1 p.m., traveling too fast to negotiate a curve in the road. The driver overcorrected to the right, causing the load to shift.

That unbalanced the truck, causing the trailer and cab to overturn on its side and skid across the highway into a guard rail.
