Mont Harmon Junior High School sponsors cake decoration contest on Oct. 29
On Oct. 29, 2010 the FCCLA Club sponsored a cake decorating contest. It was a great success, with lots of winners, and lots of fun.
The contest was open to any student at the Jr. High. We had 86 contestants and 52 cakes entered. There were eight catagories. There were seasonal, tiered, fondant, sport, unusual, funny, teacher and staff cakes. Seasonal had the most entries at 23 cakes (so its category had two winners) Most catagories had five to seven cakes.
Students had to bring a cake with only one layer of frosting ( the crumb coat) on it to school, so everyone had an even start. The students were given two class periods to frost and decorate their cakes. Judging started at 10:30 a.m. and winners announced at 11 a.m.
Parents and business were invited to come to the silent auction from 11 a.m.- 1 p.m. and place a bid on the cakes. It was fun to watch students create beautiful cakes. Very high quality cakes were produced, and most students wanted to do it next year also. It was a great time had by all. Thanks to everyone who participated and donated to the FCCLA.
All proceeds went to students needing help with activity and fees, and to service projects.
