By TERRY WILLIS Sun Advocate sports reporter
In their first season as a 1A school, the Pinnacle Panther volleyball squad finished the season tied in fifth place in their region. The Panthers won the coin toss against Navajo Mountain for the chance to take on Piute in the play in game. On Monday Oct 25 they traveled to Piute for the match. The Panthers lost in three games 25-11, 25-18, and 25-11.
"It was the best our team had looked. We played great as a team, had multiple blocks and our passing was great. Piute is a great team and we kept it close through most of the game. It was great to finish our first season in 1A." Piute ended up taking second at state this year." stated Coach Heidi Kay.
She went on to say, "This year was a building and a learning year for us in joining UHSSA 1A. We set a couple of team goals at the start of the season and met each one of them, so for me and the coaching staff, we are happy with our first year in UHSAA and plan on building on our success."
