	Carbon County Board of Commissioners NOTICE OF BOARD VACANCIES
	October 29, 2010

		In the interest of giving more citizens the opportunity to serve in
the community, the Carbon County Board of Commissioners would like to
give notice of volunteer service opportunities with various County
Boards or Committees. Following is a list of vacancies.  Applications
are available from the Carbon County Commission Secretary.  For more
information, please call 636-3226.  Mail all applications to: Sandra
Lehman, Carbon County Commission, 120 East Main Street, Price, Utah
84501.  Deadline: November 30, 2010.  All applicants must be willing
to regularly attend meetings and actively participate in the committee
or board activities.  Please do not apply if you have been convicted
of a felony. 

	•CARBON COUNTY BOARD OF ADJUSTMENTS
	Number of Vacancies: One
	Terms: Five year term.

		This Board meets on an as-needed basis, usually three or four times
per year.  Meetings are to consider appeals from zoning decisions,
special exceptions to the terms of the Development Code, and variances
to land use planning issues.

	•CARBON COUNTY PLANNING COMMISSION
	Number of Vacancies: Two
	Terms: Four year terms.

		This is a seven member board that is appointed by the Board of
Commissioners and meets monthly to recommend zoning ordinances and
maps, subdivision regulations, amendments to same, requests for
conditional use permits, etc. to the County Commission.  It is
preferred to fill these vacancies with citizens that reside in the
East Carbon, Sunnyside, Spring Glen or Miller Creek areas.

	•CARBON COUNTY TOURISM TAX ADVISORY BOARD
	Number of Vacancies: Five
	Terms:	Four positions with two-year terms and one, one-year term
position to fulfill the remainder of a member's term vacated early

		This Board will meet every other month and more if necessary, and
will focus primarily on the promotion of tourism and the development
of tourism related facilities within Carbon County.  Board members are
responsible for making recommendations to the Carbon County
Commissioners for the expenditure of the restaurant sales tax and
transient room tax collected in Carbon County. The Board must be
composed of members living within Carbon County, and a majority of the
members must be current employees of entities operating restaurants or
hotel/lodging businesses within Carbon County.  The balance of the
board members must be employees of recreational facilities, convention
facilities, museums, cultural attractions, or other tourism-related
industries located within Carbon County. 
	 
	•SCOFIELD RESERVOIR SPECIAL SERVICE DISTRICT
	Number of Vacancies: Two - Representing the Bolotas and the Campsite
areas.
	Terms: Two year terms.

		This six member board meets quarterly and is responsible for the
operation of the sewer systems in the subdivisions/campsites
surrounding the reservoir.

	•RECREATION AND TRANSPORTATION SPECIAL SERVICE DISTRICT
	Number of Vacancies: Three
	Terms: Four year terms.

		This seven member board meets monthly to review and hear requests
for funding for qualifying projects.  Members must reside in the
unincorporated County

	•CARBON WATER CONSERVANCY DISTRICT

	Number of Vacancies: Two - One each in District Two and District
Three

		This Board meets quarterly and members must reside in respective
districts.  Map of districts can be viewed in the Carbon County
Commission Secretary's office.

	•CARBON COUNTY CAREER SERVICE COUNCIL

	Number of Vacancies: Three B One regular and two alternates
	Terms:	Regular: Three year term.
	Alternates: One year terms.

		This five-member bipartisan board, mandated by state law, consists
of three regular members and two alternate members.  Meetings are held
on an as-needed basis to hear appeals not resolved at lower levels in
cases of career service county employees that have been suspended,
transferred, demoted, or dismissed as well as in cases of other
grievances not resolved by the grievance process at the county and/or
departmental level.
