Smarting from their loss to Wasatch, the Lady Dinos took the floor Tuesday night in a non-region match with Grand. Grand is currently ranked fourth in all of 2A and has had no intetion of being beat by Carbon. It shaped up as a great exhibition with the Dinos finally taking the match in five sets.

The Dinos took the first two 25-20 and 25-12. The Red Devils pulled out the next two 25-23 and 25-23 before the Lady Dinos ended it with a 15-12 victory.

Carbon came out tentative in game one and let Grand stay in in with service errors. After the win, the Dino confidence soared and they dominated game two as they executed their plays and made their serves. Set three saw Carbon hit a wall and Grand took advantage of it and edged them out for the victory.

In the fourth set the Dinos fell in a deep hole early, but climbed back out and tied it at 12. They were not able to put together a scoring run and lost the lead again at 17. Even though it stayed anyone's set until the end, the Devils force a fifth and final set. Carbon's Sara Potts took control of things and was all over the court, rallying her team and they responded and stepped up to take the win.

Potts finished with 19 kills and Amanda Freestone added 12. Kacylia Ivory pulled 19 digs. Shaylie Jones dished out 24 assists and Alexis Oliver had 19 to solidify the win.

Carbon senior Ivory was all smiles as she came off the court,"We needed that! It helped us a lot. It helps us get ready for state and get our enthusiasm up for Friday."

"We needed that win," remarked Coach Bob Potts as he echoed the sentiment expressed by Ivory, "Moab is a tough team and ranked fourth, so it was a good win. I was happy we almost pulled off the win in game four after being down so far. We changed a lot this week, Both our offense and defense was different. I think the new defense really made a difference tonight. It was good prep for what is to came. If we play like we did in our first two games tonight, we will have no trouble beating North Sanpete Friday morning."

Carbon faces the Hawks at the Mackay Center on the UVU campus in Orem at 8:00 am Friday morning in the first round of the state tournament.
