CHS Volleyball prepares for big game against Wasatch
Facing the most important region match-up of the season this Tuesday, the Lady Dinos headed to Richfield for a tournament to keep their skills sharp. The Richfield tournament is referred to by the teams participating as a mini-state tournament.
Carbon walked away with mixed results going 4-4 over the weekend. They opened with a pair of losses against Juan Diego and Enterprise. Then they came back and beat North Sevier and Beaver. There were two more losses at the hands of Pineview and South Sevier. before concluding with victories over Rowland Hall and Beaver.
"Like a roller coaster, we competed with everyone we played, but we didn't finish," said Coach Bob Potts about the weekend., "But this is a great tournament to go to to prepare the girls for state. It simulated the state tournament environment with big open courts and many games going on at once. It was a little tough for them to get used to and they opened a bit tentative and we took two early losses to put us in the consolation bracket. We finished with our best play and took first in the fourth bracket so our girls were feeling good about things."
The Varsity sits at 6-1 in region play as does the JV squad. Both the Sophomores and the Freshman teams are undefeated in region play.
The Lady Dinos will face Wasatch at home on Tuesday with a lot riding on the match. Both teams have only a loss and the winner will secure the region 10 title. Carbon will also add one more home match on Oct. 26 against Grand. That will be senior night for the squad and the varsity match will begin at 6:30 p.m.
