The Carbon County Commission has agreed to fund a one-time grant or $15,000 to the Carbon Boys and Girls Club for membership activities. Director McKell Warburton told commissioners the club has been raising money through business donations and fund raising events. She said the club has also received one-time funds from Price City.

Warburton said the club offers activities such as pottery, games, cooking, homework tutoring, photography and sports.

"The program looks like it's on firm ground," commented Commissioner Mike Milovich. A survey showed that 21 percent of youth indicated they considered using drugs, the commissioner added that the county money was a good investment if it provides an alternative to drug abuse.
