After two tough home losses the week before to Northern and Southern Idaho, the Lady Eagles found a way to win on the road over in Rangely, Colo., last Saturday afternoon. USU-CEU swept the match against Colorado Northwestern Community College 25-21, 25-13 and 25-21 to post their first region win of the season.

With two starters out of the starting lineup the Lady Eagles had their work cut out for them on the road. Their opponent CNCC had just won their first volleyball match in six years the night before against Sheridan College from Wyoming.

Coach Grant Barraclough had this to say about CNCC, "They are very scrappy team and seem to read offenses fairly well and they just happen to be in the right place at the right time on Friday."

However, Saturday belonged to the Lady Eagles as they had one of their best hitting matches of the year, hitting (.286) on 44 kills in 98 attempts. To accommodate the two missing starters, Sabrina Simas was moved back to the middle hitter position from the opposite outside and Britni Greenwood started as the opposite outside hitter. Kylie Cordon returned to the starting line up to fill in the outside hitter role.

Miranda Parkinson led the team with 12 kills and three service aces. She was followed closely by Sabrina Simas with 10 kills. Cordon racked up eight kills and Greenwood smashed seven and Nicole Roberts finished with five. The balanced attack helped the team produce some offense and helped them stay ahead of their opponent the entire match. Setter Julia Potts dished out 34 assists and Libero Abigale Ericson collected nine digs.

Snow College and SLCC will visit Price this weekend for two region battles. Friday night the Lady Eagles will take on Snow at 7 p.m. On Saturday afternoon the Lady Eagles will face off with SLCC at 3 p.m. Both matches will be in the B-DAC.
