Myrtle spurge must die, the Carbon County Commission has decided.

The toxic plant has been put on the county's hit list as a noxious weed. Commissioners on Wednesday followed the Weed Board's recommendation to put the weed control crew to work exterminating the plant.

As reported earlier in the Sun Advocate, the myrtle spurge can be deadly if eaten and its sap can cause sores on contact and severe eye damage and blindness.

The weeds have shown up in a wash near Kenilworth and has also been found as a decorative plant in rock gardens around the county.
