It's an old axiom; work hard and you'll be rewarded. That was true for Eldon Miller of Helper who took home a Silver Medal in the 1500m Race Walk competition at the Huntsman World Senior Games on Oct. 5.

"I had a wonderful experience at the games this year since my daughter Lori Mattucci, formerly from Helper, also competed in the Race Walking competition and has been my avid supporter the past 2 years as I trained for and competed in the race," Miller said.

The Huntsman World Senior Games is a world-class, Olympic-format, international sporting event for athletes ages 50 years and older. Founded more than 24 years ago, the Games currently hosts over 10,000 athletes annually. Each October, for two weeks, the event is held in colorful St. George.

At the 2010 Games, athletes will compete in 27 different sports and will host participants from all 50 of the United States and over 25 foreign countries.
