Dinos spike Park City Miners in three sets
Carbon High Volleyball team defeated the Miners from Park City in three games, 25-13, 25-22, 25-18.
In the previous meeting between these two teams, the Dino offense was hot and cold and the match went to five sets before the Dinos prevailed.
This time with the match on the Dinos home court, there was no doubt the Dinos were ready when the first back row hit by the Park City's Libero was crushed down by middle hitter Amanda Freestone, who lead the team with 8 blocks (3 solos & 5 assists). The Carbon front line players made it a priority to not let the Miner's back row players run any type of offense as the team recorded 12.5 team blocks.
The home team had plenty of offense with 29 kills and only 7 errors with Sara Potts and Freestone collecting 8 kills each. Rachel Scoggins, Kayleigh Potts and BreAnna Hurdsman each had 4 kills.
Park City called its second time out of the third set at match point to no avail as the sweep was completed on a service ace by Alexis Oliver following the time out. The senior setter also dished out 26 assists for the match. The defense was led by Sara Potts 22 digs, 15 serve receive attempts with no errors and Kacylia Ivory 18 digs 13 serve receive attempts with no errors. Team passing was 2.19 for the match giving setter Alexis Oliver 2 plus hitting options on every set attempt.
