Angel Tree program gearing up to make Christmas merry for all

So it still feels like summer outside and the kids have just started a new school year. Christmas may seem so far away, but for many it is time to begin the process of making sure every child in our community has presents under the tree.

With the economic down turn it is expected that there will be more families in need of help this year and United Way and their partner agencies are hoping that our community once again steps up to fill in the gaps and make it possible to serve the ever expanding needs.

The schools, Carbon Credit Union, Kiwanis, Price City Fire department and many others are gearing up for the Annual Angel Tree program. The community and service groups are being asked to coordinate their Christmas Helping programs through United Way again this year so all families can be served and everyone knows who has already been helped and who is still in need of assistance.

If you are one of the families that may be struggling as Christmas approaches Oct. 1 through Nov. 12 is the time to pick up an application and get it returned with your supporting documents. Late applications will not be accepted.

Applicants need to make sure they have all the supporting information included with their application when they drop it off or it will be rejected. United Way and the drop off locations will not obtain that information for you. If you have questions you can contact the United Way Office. All applications can be dropped off only at specific locations.

For more information and to see whether you are eligible for the Angel Tree Program, visit the United Way of Southeastern Utah Website at www.uwseu.org.
