MOAB - Larry Joe Day passed away peacefully at his home in Moab, surrounded by his family on Sept 9, 2010.

Larry was born just minutes ahead of his twin brother, Garry, in Moab on Dec. 17, 1939 to Alden Lynn Day and Dora Mae Denison Day. Very active in sports, he was the football team captain, and held the state record in the 220 yard track event for nearly 20 years. During high school he fell in love with Bonnie Lou Nordfelt and they were married one month after graduation. Their union was blessed with three children whom they adore. At the time of his passing, Larry and Bonnie had been married for 51 wonderful years.

Larry worked in the Uranium mines for many years before moving to Price where he worked in the Coal mines until he lost part of his foot in an accident. After the accident he began working as a Mine Safety Inspector, a position he held until 1979. Larry loved hunting, fishing, and most of all spending time with his family.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Bonnie; children: Larry (Betty) Day, Todd (Robin) Day, and Tricia (Mike) Berger; Brother Garry (Sandy) Day; Sister Dorlyn Nielson, and 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday Sept. 14, 2010 at the Moab LDS Stake Center, with burial following at the Sunset Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements were by Kimmerle-Hefner Funeral Home.
