Civil Air Patrol cadets perform an opening ceremony before their back to school barbeque. The Senior Civil Air Patrol hosted the event for cadet members and their families at the Lions Pavilion at the County Airport. After the ceremony, they fall out and do scheduled military training which includes physical fitness, military protocol, aviation training, aerospace education and drill. The program prepares them for military service. Cadets range from 12 to 18 years of age. If their qualifications remain current, they may be invited to the Air Force Academy. If they receive certain awards, they will advance two pay grades when they enlist in any armed service programs. Cadets meet every Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. at the airport. For more information contact senior director of the cadets Ron Berneche at 650-5304.
