Recycling fee not in works

By Jeanne McEvoy Green Team Carbon Chair

I would like to address a recent letter to the editor in reference to recycling in Carbon County.

The letter shared much of the same information The Green Team received on a county-wide survey as well as face-to-face discussions with community members and elected officials. The majority of the people who responded were interested in recycling and would like to see recycling offered free of charge. It can be safely said that there have been no fees incurred to the public for recycling during this effort.

By way of clarification, let me offer a brief description of The Green Team. The Green Team is a grassroots committee consisting of members interested in seeing additional recycling locally. The Green Team's board has no authority to implement a tax or a mandatory fee. Instead, we choose to find creative partnerships in order to provide the service free of charge. This means it is going to take many volunteer hours. The more volunteers we have, the more we can accomplish.

Please attend our next meeting to be held Aug. 24th at 2:00 p.m. in room 106 of Price City Hall or call 650-9249. We appreciate your input and opinions. They guide us in the development of our program.
