District decides to appoint acting superintendent
The Carbon School District Board of Education had an emergency meeting on Tuesday morning and decided to rescind one of the decisions they made in response to the arrest of Superintendent George Park on Aug. 6. At a special meeting on the day of the arrest they had met and decided to not only place Park on paid administrative leave, but to appoint a committee of three administrators to run the district's operations until the situation with Park could be clarified.
As of Tuesday morning that committee was discontinued and the board voted to name former superintendent Patsy Bueno as acting superintendent. She will take over the reins of the district tomorrow (Aug. 18) and will stay in place as a half time employee until the district can resolve its problems with the Park situation.
Bueno left the district just last May, having served as the leader of the district for the prior three years.
