Tourism grants awarded

The Carbon County Commission on Wednesday approved about $30,000 worth of grants from the restaurant tax fund for tourism promotion. Approved for funding were:

*A $10,500 grant for the USU/CEU Prehistoric Museum to lease billboards for one year on US-6 in Spanish Fork Canyon and between Price and Wellington;

*$9,370 to the Helper Arts Council to promote plays and other events at the Rio Theater.

*$5,000 for the Carbon County Chamber of Commerce to print tourism coupon books for meeting and convention visitors to the county.

*$4,500 for various county operations to fund production of promotional DVDs.
