Outage stops Wellington economy

Scores of 'Sorry No Power' signs went up on store fronts and gas pumps across Wellington Monday afternoon as a power outage plunged the interiors of area homes and businesses into darkness. Wellington City offices, also without power, closed for the rest of the day. Power went out at about 1:15 p.m. Rocky Mountain Power spokesman Jeff Hymas said damage to equipment in the substation between Wellington and Price brought on the failure, but the cause of the damage was still being investigated Monday afternoon. The outage affected about 2,250 customers in the Wellington-Miller Creek area. Repairs were expected to be completed by 8 p.m.
