Time off for good behavior at Jail & Bail

March of Dimes intern Caitlin Jacobs of Provo fingerprints Sun Advocate employee Kade Lyons as part of the jail intake process. Jacobs said that the Carbon County event asks that inmates turn themselves in of their own volition, instead of waiting to be arrested and handcuffed as they do in some other places. The mission of March of Dimes to to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality. March of Dimes funds research to find treatments and cures for birth defects. During the past 10 years, it has given more than $2 million in research grants to Utah scientists looking for ways to give every baby a healthy start. It also funds the Teddy Bear Den, a program that provides free baby care items to low-income pregnant women to motivate healthy behaviors.
