The Helper American Legion baseball team did what very few legion teams are able to do. They ended their season with a perfect 15-0 record against some stiff competition on a state wide level.

Their final two games were a 12-2 win over Murray and then a 6-4 home victory against Cyprus.

On Wednesday, July 14, Helper traveled to Murray. Moore started on the mound and pitched four good innings. Jaren McCourt came in and finished. Helper's pitching only allowed two hits and the team played solid defense behind them.

Bradon Bolotas, KenySeals and Julian Tamllos all had doubles. Daniel Peczuh had a triple and many other Helper players had singles.

"I was very pleased with our effort and it was a good win against a team that will be in the state tournament next week." stated Coach Jeff Cisneros, " We played a very good game and everyone once again contributed in the win. We scored runs in every inning and really put a complete game together."

Thursday was the final regular season game. Bolotas threw four innings and Josh Denison finished the final three. Seals had a triple and followed with a homerun to add to his team leading numbers. Clint Finkbiner hit the ball very well and had a single and a double.

"It was a very slow paced game but we led from start to finish." Cisneros remarked, "I was proud of our effort, but most of all I'm very proud of this team and for their accomplishment to this point of our season. To finish undefeated in a league like ours says allot for this team."

He went on to add, "All season long everyone on this team has contributed to our success. The great thing about this summer was it was not a one or two person team, it was an 18 member team. It's always hard to find enough playing time for everyone when you have a team that, from top to bottom, does not have a lot of weakness'. These guys have done a great job all year getting better and hopefully preparing themselves for run deep into the state tournament. The pressure is definitely on to win the state title and move on the West regional. I'm sure our team will give it their best effort."

In addition to those final regular season wins four members of the team were chosen to play in the Salt Lake Valley All-Star game last Saturday. Those players were Beau Rich, Daniel Peczuh, Keny Seals and Colter Moore. They played for the East all-stars.

Seals started the game off with a couple of doubles and a pair of RBI's to put his team on top. Peczuh also doubled. Rich contributed with a pair of hits and scored the tying run late in the ball game. Moore started on the mound and pitched three solid innings and did not allow a run. He had a late single to help in the East comeback win.

In the bottom of the 9th, with the score tied and a runner on third he doubled in the left center field gap to score the winning run. East beat West 9-8. For his effort Colter

For his efforts, Moore was named MVP.

Helper plays at the tournament this weekend at Oquirrh Park against Granstville at 8 p.m. on the North field.
