Carbon girls soccer team gets new field and home
This season due to the construction and other issues, the Carbon High girl's soccer team will practice and play on the filed behind the USU/CEU BDAC. That's because the Carbon High football squad has taken over the field normally reserved for soccer for their practice field.
The soccer team also has a new head coach. Keith Palmer takes over the top spot for the girls. Palmer was head coach for the Carbon boys soccer squad back in 2005 and also has several years as an assistant coach as well.
Palmer has mixed feelings about the new location, but does say it offers bleachers and the college is letting them use the BDAC as a locker facility.
The team has been informally working out since last March with twice a week practices. On Tuesday (today) the team will begin conditioning drills as well as Wednesday and Thursday at 7 p.m. on the CEU field. Palmer is encouraging all girl's who may want to play soccer this season to come out to practice. Formal practice and tryouts will begin on Aug. 2 at the CEU field at 3 p.m.
The team will begin preseason play with away games on Aug. 10 and 12. They have their first home match on Aug. 13 as they take on Spanish Fork.
