Sun Advocate sports reporter

On Saturday the Price American Legion baseball team took on Union for a shot at a trip to the state Legion tournament. Whichever team won two of three games would advance. Price was unable to find the offense it needed and lost 6-5 and 4-2 to end their season.

Coach Willie Ellington said that both games came down to the wire for the Price boys, but even though they hit the ball well, they did not get the hits when they needed them. In the first game Price left nine stranded on the base pads. In game two it was seven more runners sitting on bases at the end of the game.

Tyson Damron went the distance off the mound in game one's loss. In game two it was Levi Graff who started with Johnathan Garcia coming on in relief. Garcia only gave up one hit in four innings.

Ellington said that his boys were very disappointed with the outcome, but he reminded them to hold their heads up and be proud of how hard they played all season. This was their best season yet in the three years they have been a team. He also emphasized the appreciation he and the team had for their supporters and fans who cheered them on all season as well as the sponsors who came through to help fund the expenses to keep the team on the field.

There will only be four returning players next season and Coach Ellington is encouraging all boys who want to play legion ball to consider coming out for the team next season.
