Sunnyside and East Carbon City Community Daze 2010
After months of planning and preparing for the big event, the day had finally arrived, and for many who attended, it was a day filled with sunny skies and plenty of fun.
Community Daze started out with a parade down the highway, followed by the event in the park with many food and merchandise booths available. Also included was a car show out on the baseball field and a dance at East Carbon Park.
Sunnyside City Mayor Doug Parsons said the event looked much busier than in the past few years.
"Everybody will be glad it was a success and that it has finally come and gone," Parson said. "I don't think we could have asked for better weather today."
Bruce Andrews, former mayor of Sunnyside, served as the Grand Marshall for the parade. The event helps bring people out to Sunnyside to enjoy time with family and friends, Andrews said.
"It seems like it (Community Daze) gets bigger each year," he said. "More people come back to the area and they are what helps make the event so successful."
Nola Porter, Sunnyside City council member, said she would finally be able to take a break after helping plan the event since January.
"It's a good feeling that it's finally here, but I'll breathe a sigh of relief after it's all over," she said.
