One man walked away uninjured after his car left the roadway on U.S. 6 and rolled over multiple times on June 17.

Anthony Carnevale, a 19-year-old from Buena Vista, Colo., was driving westbound in a 2002 Chevy Tahoe on U.S. 6 near Sunnyside Junction when he approached a hill at milepost 257. At some point he lost control of the vehicle, shooting across into the oncoming lane, hitting the guardrail and leaving the roadway. The SUV rolled multiple times before coming to a stop upside down about 150 feet down an embankment, according to Travis Barrett, a trooper with the Utah Highway Patrol.

Emergency personnel received a call at 3:51 p.m. and troopers were on the scene within minutes, according to Barrett.

Carnevale said he thought he was paying attention but didn't realize what was happening as he lost control of the SUV, Barrett said. Over-correcting the vehicle was the main problem in the accident, according to Barrett.

Carnevale, who had a pre-existing leg injury, was led out of the vehicle by emergency personnel and into an ambulance where he said he required no medical attention. Carnevale was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident..

Carnevale was issued a citation for failure to maintain a lane on the road, according to Barrett.
