Coach Willie Ellington stressed the importance of getting off to a good start at the Rock Springs Tournament. The scheduled three day event was ended after the first day due to rain and the winner was determined by the team with the most points scored by them minus what was scored against them.

The Price team had the best record and the most wins after beating Evanston 10-2 and then Rock Springs 12-11 on Friday.

Tyson Damron took the mound to start things off for Price. He was able to throw a complete game and limit Evanston to two runs. It was all Price as their offense took over and sent ten runs over for the easy win.

Game two was much closer. Joe McKinnon was the starter for Price, but he only went three innings before Jonathan Garcia came in to finish it. Nico Valasquez smashed a grand slam to give Price the edge.

In the final inning Rock Springs had the bases loaded and one one out. The count was full and a walk would tie it. Garcia got the batter to pop up a short one to third and it was caught and then they stepped on third to double up and end the game.

"It was very exciting," said Coach Ellington as he summed things up. "My kids wanted to keep playing, but I told them they earned the trophy by getting those two wins to start things off. We get to travel back to Wyoming for a tournament in Green River this weekend and we are ready to play."

Before they head to Green River Wy, they will host them for a pair of games on Wednesday night here in Price.
