Carbon County Sheriff's Department arrested a Price man after working with Division of Child and Family Services last week.

Troy Ellington, 39, Price, was apprehended without incident after police were called to his home on South Elm Avenue.

The sheriff's department arrived at Ellington's home at 11:30 a.m. June 9, with a warrant for his arrest. The warrant was for protective custody of a minor located at the residence.

Ellington did not cooperate with deputies when they first arrived on scene, according to Guy Adams, captain with Carbon County Sheriff's department. Adams said they saw movement within the home in the basement and continued to negotiate with him to come out and surrender.

When Ellington did not comply with the demands, the Sheriff's Emergency Response Team (SERT) was called out to the scene.

The team surrounded the residence and negotiations were started again. Ellington later opened the door for police and was arrested without incident. SERT entered the house and located a minor in the residence who was placed into the custody of DCFS.

Ellington was arrested and booked into the Carbon County jail on charges of child abuse and obstruction of justice, according to Adams.

Bail was set at $10,000 by a judge. Ellington also had a $1,000 warrant in addition to the charges.

Ellington posted bond and is currently out on bail awaiting a court date, Adams said.
