Tea anyone? Local girls get chance to be princesses for a day

Disneyland made it's way to Price for one day as local girls got the chance to meet some of their favorite Disney movie characters at a Princess Tea Party held in the auditorium at the Carbon School District building on Saturday, June 12.

The first annual event brought over 175 princesses, and at least one prince, for an afternoon of laughter, pampering and sweet treats. Princesses had the chance to take photos with Disney characters such as Belle, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and Snow White.

Lindsey Magnuson, a coach with the Carbon High Drill Team, said the event was put together as a fundraiser to help fund activities, trips and other necessities the Drill Team participates in. So instead of a bake sale, Magnuson and others involved with the Drill Team chose to do something a little different.

"It's something fun for the community to be a part of," Magnuson said. "We wanted to do something different for a fundraiser. We heard this was done somewhere else and we thought it would work well here."

The cost for the event for each princess was $12 and $5 for adults. Each princess received an autograph book, a wand, a pen, as well sweet treats like cupcakes, punch, tea and cake.

With the success of the event in it's first year, Magnuson thinks this will become an annual event.

"This event was for little kids to have fun and live the fantasy of being a princess for a day. Not everyone has a chance to go to Disneyland, so we thought we would bring it to them," she said.
