BEAUMONT, CALIF/FERRON - Landy Marvin Foster, Jr., 87, was born Oct. 20, 1922 in Ferron. He passed away June 6, 2010 at his home in Beaumont, Calif. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and a friend of Beaumont.

Preceded in death by his parents, Landy Marvin Foster and Mattie Lee Arney; his first wife, Kathryn Pilling Foster; his brother, Nephi Foster; and his sisters, Carmen Brennan and Muriel Algar.

He is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Mary Decker-Foster of Beaumont, Calif; sister, Ferne Meredith; children, Landy Roy (Becky) Foster, of Beaumont, Calif, Judy Kay (Thomas) Armstrong of Newalla, Okla. and Laura Lee (Bob) Birdsong of Beaumont, Calif; granddaughters, Lualice, Jenae, Christina, Sarah, Dawn, Angelique and Jeanetta; step-children, Lynda (James) Henry of Atlanta, GA, Mitchell (Patricia) Decker, Larry (Phyllis) Decker of Colorado Springs, Colo, and Vernon (Linda) Decker of Garden Grove, Calif. Combined the family equals seven children, 24 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Landy Marvin Foster, Jr. belonged to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, also a member of the Banning American Legion, and was a Utah Mason. He served in the Navy as a radar man in World War II and the Korean War. In his younger years Landy worked the coal mines in Utah. At one time he owned a television and repair shop in Dragerton. In 1960 Landy moved to Beaumont, Calif., where he and Kathryn owned and ran Beaumont Taxi Cab service for 23 years. Everyone called him Poppa or June.

Viewing will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 16, 2010 followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 6140 West Wilson Street, Banning, Calif, 92220. Interment will be at Mt. View Cemetery 1315 Edgar Avenue, Beaumont, Calif, 92223. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Redlands Visiting Nurses Association Inland Counties.

We will always remember him as a strong responsible man who loved his family and friends. He died peacefully knowing he was loved and we all truly believe we will be with him again.
