Wellington to control city cemetery traffic
The Wellington City Cemetery will control vehicle traffic over the Memorial Day holiday by setting up designated parking spaces for visitors. Visitors will be able to drive to the cemetery as usual, but will have to walk a short distance to the graves.
Mayor Ben Blackburn explained that the traffic regulation is necessary to protect gravestones and grounds during the holiday. This will prevent people from driving around cars that have stopped on the narrow access roads, which could do damage when leaving the road.
