Four Carbon High School girls have been chosen to represent their school at this year's Girls State gathering at Southern Utah University June 7 to 12.

Kristen Kulow, Sarah Jane Baker, Caitlin Patterson and Stacy Semborski qualified for the event by ranking in the top 20 percent of their junior class, and by completing a selection interview.

Girls State, which is sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary, is a model government in which girls vie for various city offices and learn the basics of municipal and state government. Two girls from Utah will be chosen to go on to Washington, D.C., for the national event.
