Boys tennis ends
By TERRY WILLIS Sun Advocate sports reporter
The Carbon High boy's tennis team had five players make it to the state tournament at BYU this season. Geoffrey Vogel and Jordan Pinedo qualified as Carbon's first doubles. Antonio Cordova qualified in the third singles spot, despite having played only seven matches (including the divisional tournament) at the varsity level. Mario Trejo and Cameron Hansen made it as Carbon's second doubles team.
At state Cordova got beat fairly quickly, as did the Trejo/Hansen team. Both were playing #1 seeds from Desert Hills. Desert Hills went on to take the Tennis state championship.
Vogel and Pinedo won in the first round against North Sanpete. They lost in the second round to a very good Morgan team.
"Overall I felt the boys did a great job this year," concluded Coach Pete Riggs.
