Helper American Legion season to begin
Another season is looming for the Helper American Legion Team. With many stellar players from Carbon and Emery High expected to try out for the team, as well as some returning older players, Coach Jeff Cisneros is looking forward to another successful season.
Cisneros wants to stress that the Helper American Legion team is open to all boys interested in playing top notch ball who were born on or after January 1991. The team has players from all over Carbon, Emery and Grand counties.
The Helper American Legion team plays in the Salt Lake Valley conference. This conference reaches as far north as Idaho and down to Helper. It continues to be a very competitive conference. Cisneros is the league president this season and continue to work hard at keeping the conference running smooth.
Cisneros wants to make sure that every one that participated in the May tournament to support the team knows how much the help is appreciated. Even with every effort to keep cost down, league fees went up again this season. Travel and equipment cost continue to creep up as well so every dime from the sponsors and donors goes to making sure the team can keep playing.
Some of the names to watch this season will be the return of Josh Denison. Also Carbon High seniors Daniel Peczuh, Beau Rich and Keny Seals should make an impact. Coulter Moore from Emery High is also expected to be a presence on the field.
Helper will host their annual tournament again June 24-27 and it will feature teams from around the state as well as Idaho. Cisneros encourages as many people as possible to plan to come and watch some really great baseball over the course of the four day event.
Helper Legion try-outs will be held May 17-19 at the Helper Legion field at 6:00 p.m. each night. Cisneros encourages anyone interested to show up ready to play.
