Another home stand and another four games lost for the struggling CEU Eagles on the diamond this past weekend. CSI was in Price for the final set and they took all four from the Eagles. On Friday CSI beat CEU 8-3 and 8-1. The Saturday games ended 10-1 and 2-1 in favor of the visitors.

It took four pitches for CEU to end game one on Friday against CSI. Josh Swenson took the hill and left after giving up four runs in the second and taking the loss. CEU pulled within two in the fifth with their biggest inning of the whole series, sending three runs over the plate. But CSI finished them off with three of their own in the seventh to put the final nail in the coffin.

CSI scored in every other inning in game two as CEU again went through four pitchers. Brennan Hallows went six and left with the score 3-1 in favor of CSI. CEU could only manage a single hit in the loss.

Hoping for a different outcome on Saturday, Jacob Zumbrunnen took the mound. He was even less successful than the pitchers that had tried the day before. CSI scored early and often while again holding the Eagles to a single hit and run. Zumbrunnen got the loss after only three innings in the game.

The final game was CEU's best outing of the series. Down only by one in the fourth, they tied it as Austin Smith went deep for CEU. But that didn't hold for long as CSI came right back and went ahead in the fifth. It was the total of the scoring in the game. Cameron Schmidt took the loss off the mound for the Eagles.

The team will head to Henderson, Nev. for the SWAC tournament. They will have to face CSI again for their first opponent in the tournament. Their first game will be Wednesday, May 12 at 4:00 p.m.
