DWR will be checking vehicles

The Division of Wildlife Resources (DWR) is planning to conduct a number of administrative checkpoints in Utah this spring and summer. Checkpoints provide a means to contact a lot of people along the state's transportation arteries. Anglers can expect to encounter one or more of these checkpoints as they fish.

Checkpoints provide the DWR with the opportunity to monitor compliance with fishing regulations. Information on harvest success, species composition and size of fish can also be collected. Where necessary, conservation officers can address violations of law, and take the opportunity to educate the sporting public about the regulations.

Checkpoint locations are selected near popular fishing destinations to avoid slowing non-fishing traffic.

It is the responsibility of the DWR to protect and conserve the state's fish and wildlife. By curbing angler disregard for fishing regulations, the DWR is able to better manage its fisheries and provide a better fishing experience for the general public.
