TO'HAJIILEE, N.M. - One time resident of Helper, Jay Yazzie, suddenly went home to his Heavenly Father's arms on Friday, April 23, 2010.
He lived in Colton and Helper for a number of years. Jay was employed by D&RGW Railroad in April of 1951 as a section laborer at Scenic. He worked various locations including Soldier Summit, Gulluly, Kyune, Castle Gate, Colton, Price, Cedar and Helper. He transferred to touch driver until his retirement in May of 1983. Jay thereafter moved to To'Hajiilee, N.M. (near Albuquerque, N.M.) in 1989 until his passing.
He leaves behind his wife, Alice K. Yazzie, his daughter Janice (Yazzie) Platero and her husband Murphy Platero; 2 grandsons, Levi and Cheston, and 2 granddaughters, Jessica and Adrienne Platero. Funeral will be Saturday, May 1, 2010; at the Chief Cornerstone Assembly of God in To'Hajiilee, N.M.. Arrangements were made with Salazar and Sons in Albuquerque, N.M.
