Carbon soccer ends season with losses

The Carbon Dinos failed to reach the play-in games with two final season losses. On Wednesday they played Wasatch and even though they fought hard, they lost 4-0. On Friday against a very good Park City team, they found themselves buried 11-0 to end their season.

Even though the team failed to score against Wasatch on Wednesday, Coach Patrick Clifford was very pleased with how the team came out and played. Earlier the Wasps had run over them 9-0. Clifford stated that even the Wasatch Coach commented on how much the Dinos had improved.

Carbon Goalie Adam Bedont had one of his best games and made some fantastic saves in the match-up, according to Clifford. The coach also felt like the entire team came out and gave it all they had.

But on Friday as the coach boarded the bus for the final road game against Park City it was a different story. Only 16 of his 32 member squad had shown up to play. Park City has one of the best squads in the state and the shorthanded Carbon team was no match. Clifford had little to say about the final game of the year.

But looking ahead, Clifford sees real optimism for Carbon on the soccer field. Many of the team will be seniors next year. He will be looking to the leadership from this year's juniors like Kenny Hobbs, K. J. Ericson, Adam Bedont, Tyce Hadley and Nate Samuelson to take the team to the next level.

Clifford also wanted to acknowledge his departing seniors Jacob Butler, Brandon Gomez, Eric Yan and Toby Prettyman for their efforts and leadership through the season.
