Restraining pens make the job easier
It's not always easy to trim the hoofs of livestock. The animal must be immobilized and kept still for the duration of the procedure. The foot has to be cleaned and examined and, if necessary, the trimming carried out. Immobilizing a cow for insemination, for the treatment of a hoof problem or for veterinary care isn't easy either. To simplify the task, a restraining pen is always useful. There are many different, functional models available on the market, ranging from the simplest to the most sophisticated. Some cages are fixed while others are adjustable. An adjustable pen allows for its size and shape to be modified depending on your needs. When choosing a model, it's important to take into account your budget, how much use you will make of it as well as the size of the herd. There are also different types of gates available for these pens. Two of the latest models are offered with different kinds of pens: the automatic gate and the hydraulic accordion-gate. Normally these gates are interchangeable with the different pens. The most up-to-date pens have the added advantages of gates opening on the side and good quality support straps. Also available in hoof-trimming pens is an adjustable front crank and a rear safety crank in order to facilitate the work.
